Diatomaceous earth is made of natural elements, as it consists of powdered petrified bones. As with the human bone, the DE also contains spongy holes. One disadvantage is that this type of hot tub filter is capable of filtering out only large-sized dirt and impurities, but fails to catch the tiny ones.

Because of this, your sand filter must be installed with a coagulate. The coagulate enlarges the tiny particles of dirt, so that the sand filter can catch them. The sand in a sand filter must also be replaced every few years.

Cartridge Filter. This is the most commonly used hot tub filter. Dacron is used in the manufacture of this type of filter. Dacron is a type of mesh that has little pleats. It is these pleats that are responsible for removing impurities from the water.
